This 2-part poetry course is focused on revising poetry. The course is aimed at people who regularly write poetry, or have previously taken the Elements of poetry course. In addition to group meetings and exercises, the course will include special individual feedback.
As with any writing, the first draft is rarely the final one. Like poet Maggie Smith wrote “The first draft of a poem is almost always the not-right words in the not-right order”. Tutored by Katja Knezevic, who also teaches the Elements of poetry course, this course will give students the tools to look critically at their own poems and re-create them into better poems by perfecting word choice, rhythm and form.
This course can be taken as a standalone course or as a follow up to Elements of Poetry. Students who have taken Elements of Poetry are able to take Perfecting your Poetry at a reduced price.
